On Monday, May 19, 2025, the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation proudly hosted the 68th Annual Academic Banquet at Wolf Bay Restaurant’s Banquet Room, honoring the top academic seniors from Elberta High School.
This cherished tradition celebrates students who have gone above and beyond in their academic journey by completing the most rigorous coursework available, including Advanced Placement (AP), dual enrollment, and honors-level classes, earning their Diploma with Distinction. This honor represents a student’s dedication to academic excellence, personal growth, and college or career readiness, and is a powerful reflection of their hard work, character, and determination.
These distinguished students not only met but exceeded expectations, challenging themselves to excel in their school's most demanding academic paths. Their success is a testament to their perseverance and the strong support system around them, from teachers and counselors to family and community members.

The evening also marked a milestone moment for Elberta High School as we recognized Branton Bailey, who is set to retire at the end of this school year. Mr. Bailey has been a pillar in the Elberta community, and his leadership and service leave a lasting legacy. As we look ahead, we also warmly welcome Principal Stan Shotts, whose dedication and enthusiasm are sure to carry Elberta forward into a bright future.

We were also proud to recognize Kelsey Hopper as Elberta High School’s 2025 Teacher of the Year. Her commitment to her students, her passion for teaching, and her impact within the school community make her a truly deserving recipient of this honor. She is a shining example of the kind of educator who helps shape not just scholars, but future leaders.
The banquet featured special guests Representative Frances Holk-Jones and Baldwin County Board of Education Member Jason Woerner, representing District 5. Mr. Woerner attended in support of his son, Charlie Woerner, one of this year’s honorees — a touching reminder of the personal connections that make this event so meaningful.
Laura Alms and Amanda Jackson-Schoen presented each student with a certificate during the ceremony. As part of the celebration, every honoree shared a brief reflection, which gave attendees a glimpse into each student’s hopes, dreams, and the people and moments that shaped them.
