Grab your leg warmers and dig out those cassette tapes—National Retro Day just got a whole lot more exciting. Today, the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation officially pulled back the curtain on its newest signature event: Walk This Way: Mixtapes & Rollerskates.

While the main event is set to roll out Saturday, April 25, the buzz starts now. This isn’t just your average stroll through Downtown Foley; it’s a high-energy, 80s-themed walking parade and block party designed to flood our streets with neon, nostalgia, and—most importantly—support for local education.

🛼 The Route: 0.80 Miles of Pure 80s Magic

Participants are encouraged to go "all out" with their attire. Whether you’re rocking a vintage windbreaker or teased hair that defies gravity, you’ll be part of an 80s-themed parade through the heart of downtown.

The community is invited to line the sidewalks to cheer on the walkers as they toss candy and nostalgic goodies, turning the 0.80-mile trek into a massive neighborhood celebration.

🎟️ The All-Access Pass: Eat, Drink, & Win

Registered participants get more than just a workout; they get an All Access Pass. This pass doubles as a "punch card" for an interactive crawl through Downtown Foley’s finest establishments.

  • Support Local: Visit participating restaurants and bars to collect punches.

  • Get Rewarded: Completed cards are entered into a grand prize drawing at the end of the night.

  • The After-Party: The night concludes with a massive Downtown Block Party featuring a live 80s cover band.

🎓 Fun with a Purpose

Beyond the neon and the music, Walk This Way carries a significant mission. All proceeds benefit the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation, which supports 14 local schools.

"Proceeds from the event fund classroom grants, school programs, and innovative educational opportunities for local students."

By joining the party, you're directly investing in the future of our students and teachers.

💼 Get Involved: Sponsorships Now Open!

The Foundation is currently seeking local businesses to lead the pack. This is a prime opportunity to gain visibility while supporting a great cause.

  • Sponsorships: Multiple tiers are available to get your brand in front of the community.

  • Punch-Card Stops: Drive foot traffic directly through your doors by becoming an official punch card stop.
